The Sri Ranganatha Temple, located in Vrindavan, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi. The temple also houses the idols of Sita-Rama and Lakshmana, Lord Narasimha, Ramanujacarya and Venugopala.
Side view: The temple in its design and structure resembles Vishnu temples of South India. It consists of eight gopurams in the same style. The main altar displays Lord Vishnu in his sheshashayi pose, leaning on the sanctified Sesha Naga.
Front view: As a tourist you may not be able to visit all the 4,000 temples present in Vrindavan, but make sure that you visit the Ranganatha Temple as it is the biggest and one of the most beautiful ones.
Outer wall: The temple complex houses beautiful gardens and significant structures. The outer wall of the temple shown in the picture covers an area of 770 ft by 440 ft.
Within the premises of the temple stands a 50-foot-tall gold-plated flag post (Dhwaja Stambha). This is one of the most popular spots for visitors and devotees alike.
Interiors of Sri Ranganatha Temple in Vrindavan: The temple has been built in the Dravidian style. The interior of the temple includes numerous striking carved arches and pillars made of stones.
There is a water tank in the centre of the courtyard, and a scenic garden within the enclosed space of the temple. The temple organizes a festival named Jal Vihar every year, which takes place at the tank.
Now Open for All: Since the times of the British rule, the temple authorities had restricted the entry of the non-Indians to the main temple. But the policy was amended in the recent past and now the temple can be visited by anyone.
