Meghalaya Ministry of Industrial Development

The Ministry of Industrial Development in Meghalaya is devoted towards the maintenance and improvement of the industrial resources of the state. Meghalaya is rich in minerals and has a very rich wealth of human resources, making it an ideal place of industrialization despite its location in the middle of the eastern Himalayas. The Meghalaya Ministry of Industrial Development operates on a two-tier level like any other ministerial department. The secretarial level of Meghalaya Ministry of Industrial Development looks at the implementation of the plans that are made in the state legislative and the directorates are devoted towards the implementation of these plans at the district levels. Sri Nehlang Lyngdoh is the minister of industries and is at the head of the Ministry of Industrial Development at Meghalaya.

Secretariats and Directorates

The secretariat level of the Ministry of Industrial Development of Meghalaya has a strength of four secretaries. The directorate level is directly involved with the implementation of the government orders, and the improvement of the industrialization in the state. The directorate is committed towards making a proper implementation of the 'prime ministers rozgar yojana' to enable more and more beneficiaries to come under the purview of this scheme.

Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC)

The government, in its drive towards disinvestment, has indulged in a downsizing of its activities through inviting corporation and private organizations to take up the responsibilities for the state's improvement. Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is an organization that is devoted towards the improvement of the industrial base of the state. The chief minister, Dr. D. Lapang is the chairman of this organization. It has also proved to be financially beneficial to the government in the long run. The operations of MIDC are supervised by the Ministry of Industrial Development of Meghalaya.
