Meghalaya Ministry of Tourism

Meghalaya Ministry of Tourism is one of the most important ministries of the state because of the wide tourist opportunities provided by the scenic atmosphere of the state. Sri Charles Pyngrope is the tourism minister of the state. A group of an extremely efficient public servants and secretaries work under his supervision to ensure smooth functioning of the department of tourism in Meghalaya. The department of tourism, as a part of the Ministry of Tourism of Meghalaya, coordinates the transparency and smoothness in the operation of the directorate of tourism in Meghalaya and the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.

The Directorate of Meghalaya Tourism

The directorate of Meghalaya tourism work under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism at Meghalaya. It is devoted towards turning Meghalaya as a global destination, popular among tourists and travelers of all kinds. The improvement in the existing touring facilities like accommodation, communication and food lie on the top of the list of priorities for the Meghalaya Ministry of Tourism . As a part of the secretariat, the directorate is devoted towards implementing the policies framed in the state legislature.

Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.

The Meghalaya Tourism Ministry, in a process of disinvestment and increasing privatization drives, has vested the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. with the responsibility to oversee the tourism infrastructures of the state. This organization was founded as early as in 1977 and started to function from 1984. The organization maintains hotels, provide infrastructures, promote Meghalaya tourism and spread information on the state. It has succeeded to get many travelers interested in this little state in the eastern Himalayas.
