Jowai

At Nartlang do check out the 500 year old temple of Goddess Durga.
Syndai : Another village with historical significance to Jaintia kings, it offers caves as tourist attractions which were used as the hiding places during the war between Jaintia kings and foreign trespassers.
Thadlaskein Lake : This lake at Jowai of Meghalaya has a great history behind its birth. The lake is believed to be dug out by people belonging to 290 tribes of U Sajjar Niangli, who was the rebel general of Jaintia Raja, with the bow ends to mark their journey of escape from the hostile nature.
