Mizoram Education

The department of Mizoram education is looked after by a council minister and the Education Directorate, who work under the Minister of Education. Initially, before this place was declared a union territory in the year 1987, the educational system of Mizoram was looked after by the missionaries of the state.

The Education Directorate was created in the year 1973. The important positions of this directorate are the education director, three deputy education directors and a joint education director. The system of education at Mizoram follows the 10+2 pattern. This state offers a number of schools, colleges and a major university, which cater to the different types of educational needs of the society of Mizoram.

The schools of the state form an important part of the educational system at Mizoram. There are quite a few schools in this state, which provide the basic school education to the children of the region. Some of the most well known schools of Mizoram are Mizoram Institute of Comprehensive Education, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of Thenzawal, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of Thenzawl.

There are quite a few colleges in Mizoram, which offer a variety of courses on different subjects. The Mizoram colleges include Engineering colleges, Pharmacy colleges, Nursing colleges, Hotel Management colleges, Veterinary colleges, Computer institutes, Polytechnic colleges and Law colleges.

The Mizoram University, a significant part of Mizoram education, provides research facilities and regular courses in a variety of departments like natural sciences, humanities, physical sciences, forestry, social sciences and many others.

All the above educational institutes of Mizoram are quite popular throughout the entire north-western region of India.
