Mizoram University

Mizoram University was founded on 2nd July, 2001, under the provision laid down by Mizoram University Act. Mizoram University aims at disseminating knowledge and providing research facilities in natural and physical sciences, humanities, social sciences and other allied disciplines.

The permanent campus of the University is built on 978 acres of land, which is leased at Tanhril by the Government of Mizoram. Mizoram University gives affiliation to about 27 under-graduate colleges. Two professional institutions are also affiliated under the Mizoram University. At present, the total number of students enrolled in the university is around 8,279 students.

It is noteworthy that Mizoram University has received a grant of Rs 43.50 crores (approximately) from UGC. As a result, the university has taken adequate steps for its development, so that it can work at par with the other universities in India.
