Facts on Mizoram enlightens scholars, researchers and travelers whose itchy feet take them across far off lands. The northeast Indian state encompasses an area of 21,087 sq. km and stretches between the latitudinal parallels of 21° 58' North Latitude and 24°35' North Latitude on one hand and the longitudinal meridian of 92°15' East and 93°29' East on the other. The state is encircled by the states of Assam, Tripura and Manipur and also shares an international boundary with Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Aizwal, the capital city of Mizoram, happens to be the focal point of the city's industries. The state's only airport is also sited in the city. According to the statistics cited in the 2001 census report, Mizoram records a population of 8, 91,058 with a ratio of 938 women per 1000 men.

The hilly state is inhabited by a number of tribal communities whose unique lifestyle mesmerizes the urban tourists. The state emblems comprise of the state animal Serow, locally known as the Saza. The Serow bears a close semblance to the antelope and is a member of the genus Naemorhaedus. The Hume's Bar Tailed Pheasant or the Vavu is an endangered species of birds whose multi hued plumes present a dazzling sight and is credited to be the state bird. The Dancing Girl or the Aiting is the state flower while the Mesual Ferrea or the Nahar tree, locally known as Herhse is accorded the status of state tree of Mizoram.
