Speaker of Mizoram

Mr Lalchamliana is the honorable Speaker of Mizoram. Born on the 17th of August in the year of 1949 in the Electric Veng area of Aizawl, Mr Lalchamaliana is known as a strict disciplinarian. An active member of the Mizo National Front (MNF), the respectable speaker did his post graduation in Political Science in the year of 1981.

As a student, Mr Lalchamliana showed keen interest in the social, economic and cultural developments of the country. He was elected to the post of the leader in the Students' Union during his college and University days. Mr Lalchamliana joined active politics in the underground movement organized by the Mizo National Front from the year 1966 to 1974. As a prominent member of the movement, Mr Lalchamliana was unanimously chosen for the post of Lieutenant.

Mr Lalchamliana had served in various capacities as the Minister of State for Environment and Forest (Ind), Health, Taxation (Ind) and Finance. He represented the Assembly Constituency of Bilkhawthlir in 1998 and was selected as the Member of Legislative Assembly from the Mizo National Front party. In 2003, Mr Lalchamliana was again re-elected to the same post from the same constituency. All his achievements were crowned when, Mr Lalchamliana was unanimously declared as the Speaker of Mizoram.

Apart from politics, Mr Lalchamliana displays keen interest in outdoor sports and indoor games. An ardent reader, Mr Lalchamliana is known for his honesty and integrity. A social worker in his personal life, the speaker is blessed with a happy family life with four children.
