Mizoram State Museum

Mizoram State Museum was established in 1977. It is an ethnological museum that has a separate gallery dedicated to the tribes of Mizoram.

The State Museum of Mizoram is a multi purpose museum that is located on Macdonald Hill. Mizoram State Museum, situated in Aizwal, remains open from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. from Tuesday to Friday. On Monday and Saturday, the museum remains open from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Like the other museums of India, the State Museum at Mizoram remains closed on Sunday and public holidays.


Mizoram State Museum houses a number of items that reflect the cultural heritage of Mizoram. The total collection of Mizoram State Museum is about 2500 items. The items displayed in the museum reflect the rich past and the ethnic background of Mizoram. Among the items stored in the Mizoram State Museum are:
