Expected to release on 5000+ domestic screens and 850+ international screens, Bajirao Mastani is yet another delightful offering for the Ranveer Singh, DeepikaPadukone and Priyanka Chopra fans. An Indian historical romance film, Bajirao Mastani is the tale of explicit romance between an Indian general named Peshwa Baji Rao I and his second wife Mastani. This Sanjay Leela Bhansali creation is surely going to woo the audiences looking for an epic-like historical narrative on the big screen. Accompanied by a promise of unfolding multiple chapters, Bajirao Mastani is a movie history-lovers can’t afford to miss.

Plot

The story is about Baji Rao (Ranveer Singh) who was made a Peshwa at the young age of 20 and he expanded the Maratha Empire with his excellent leadership skills and smart strategy. Mastani (Deepika Padukone)- the daughter of Maharaja Chhatrasal – is gifted to BajiRao who later falls in love with Mastani, in spite of already being married to Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra). The movie is all about a turning point that creeps into this love triangle.

Performances

As a historical romance movie revolving around three characters viz: Bajirao(Ranveer Singh), Mastani(Deepika Padukone) and Kashibai(Priyanka Chopra), Bajirao Mastani is surely going to gather applauds from a global audience. Sanjay Leela Bhansali narration is the real USP of the movie. The sterling performances by all the leads are other pivotal highlights of Bajirao Mastani.

Set in the classic 17th-18th century, Bajirao Mastani has been adapted from a Marathi novel named Rau by NS Inamdar. Delighted dialogues like “Jo mehboob ko dekhe to khuda ko bhool jaaye who ishq” will impress you rightaway. Ranveer Singh as Baji Rao carries a bald look with a shimmering tilak and a single choti. Then there is Baji Rao’s first wife, Kashibai(Priyanka Chopra) who look supremely gorgeous in silk navvaris, nose ring and a half moon bindi. Throughout the movie, you’ll constantly find her using the Marathi word “chaala” meaning fraud, trickery. After this, comes the rocking performance of the third lead Mastani(Deepika Padukone) who can be seen packed with heavy armour and a sword. Bajirao Mastani’s custome and styling team has put in additional efforts to give Deepika that perfect look of a warrior’s daughter. As a true professional, Deepika can be seen wearing an armor weighing 20kg+ for a sword fighting scene.

What’s Good?

Power-packed with elaborate sets, great costumes and high-end dialogues, Bajirao Mastani has all the elements of a perfect entertainer. Even though Bajirao Mastani offers a trio of the best Bollywood actresses; Bajirao Mastani is indeed a ‘Ranveer Singh’ movie.

What’s Bad?

Two things missing in Bajirao Mastani include warmth and a touch of humor. Also, the pushed-aside Kashibai(played by Priyanka Chopra) could have been provided her own space which in turn could have proved quite beneficial for the movie.

Verdict:

Go for this classic- romantic movie to understand a blend of manhood, secularism and love.
