To fight a spirit one should turn into a spirit! That’s exactly what this cliched horror thriller edifies. Written and Directed by Suparn Verma (The man behind washouts like Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Janasheen, Acid Factory), this “not so scary” horror flick fares averagely on the box-office. In an attempt to give a new direction to the genre of horror cinema Suparn Verma seems to have lost his own way!
With a plot so lame, the movie turns out to be a drag. The movie narrates the story of a single mother (Bipasha Basu) who tries to protect her daughter from the vengeful spirit of the deceased father (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). The psychotic father, who is so adversely in love with his daughter, that he wants to take her along with him. How a mother protects her child from the malevolent grasp of the evil is what forms the story!
Having a great deal of experience in the arena of horror thrillers, Bipasha Basu has done her job well. She is extremely convincing as a mother and has clearly proven herself as an actor with phenomenal acting skills. After “Gangs of Wasseypur”, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has given another impressive performance as a ghost. He is extremely good with his expressions and lives upto the expectations of being scary. However, his role doesn’t do justice with his acting skills. Doyel Dhawan, a very sweet and adorable girl, does impeccably well as a possessed child. The other characters seem to be sleep-walking throughout the movie!
The lack of surprising elements and tinge of horror makes the film dull, monotonous and outstretched. Don’t be surprised to see people laughing at the scenes that are supposed to be scary! The climax of the movie is the ultimate disaster. When a 90 minute movie seems to be ceaseless, you can surely figure out the height of boredom it puts us into.
Verdict: If you want to plan revenge against someone, take him for this movie for mental torture!
