Directed by: Vijay Krishna Acharya

With high hopes and big claims, the most awaited movie of the year Dhoom 3 finally hit the theatres today! The third part of the action franchise Dhoom, one of the most expensive movies of 2013, just got bigger and better. The writer of its predecessors, Vijay Krishna Acharya, gets on to the director’s seat for the third part and weaves out a spectacular high-voltage action flick! Dhoom 3 is a visually delighting and an extensively lavish addition to the Dhoom series.

Plot:  A young boy witnesses the death of his debtful father, who kills himself after losing his dream circus to the relentless bankers. With a unique amalgamation of the smartness of a thief and skills of a magician, he is all set to destroy the bank. And thus starts the Dhoom between the super cop and the super thief!

Performances:  Words fall short when you try to describe the capabilities of the perfectionist, Aamir Khan! Time and now, he has proved himself as an actor with an unmatchable caliber. Even when the script sets some limitations, Aamir manages to bring out the best in every role.

Katrina Kaif looks extremely hot and refreshing with a well chiseled body. But that is all you get from her, thanks to her undefined character! The high-octane solo number by her is the only best thing about her presence in the movie.

Abhishekh Bachchan looks tired and lost this time. There is nothing that makes him the super-cop of such a high-voltage film.

Who can forget the silly tricks and funny jokes of Ali which became the USP of Dhoom. Uday Chopra brings back the comic relief yet again.

Music: Dhoom series have been known for its super energetic soundtrack. And thus, keeping up with the tradition it brings out an electrifying soundtrack yet again. When Pritam is chosen as the composer, you definitely set your hopes high. The music album of Dhoom 3 doesn’t disappoint! Songs like Malang, Kamli and Dhoom Machale need a special mention.

What’s good:  The breath-taking visuals and jaw-dropping action stunts are the best things about Dhoom 3. Along with the super-electric action sequences, the film also has an emotional touch this time. The actors, especially Aamir and Katrina look amazingly hot with well defined bodies. The music is fresh and energizing. And to top it all, there is Aamir Khan’s tap dance!

What’s bad:  The film stretches too far with 3 hours of duration. The editing could have been much more clear and precise. The action stunts are visually enthralling but unbelievable. The second half gets a little messy. The Dhoom effect is perhaps a little less this time.

The third part of the much acclaimed Dhoom series is definitely a must watch! The action sequences and visuals of this part set high standards for the Indian Cinema. Just like the previous parts, this one also belongs to its villain. You can’t afford to miss Aamir khan as he swooshes in the air with thrilling stunts!

Verdict:  Aamir Khan is definitely the Dhoom of the year!

Rating:  *** and a 1/2
