About Movie Pink
Pink is an emotional courtroom drama starring Big B of B-town and a gang of talented ladies including, Taapsee Pannu, Andrea Tariang and Kirti Kulhari. The movie is about the three girls and how their lives transform after facing gender-based violence. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan plays the lawyer who represents the three girls in the courtroom; and while fighting the case of the girls, he, too, gets a clear picture of how the country perceives its women and their reputation. Directed by debutante director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Pink comes with a brilliant message for the society and fits the current scenario in India.
Plot
PINK is a story of three girls – Meenal (played by Taapsee Pannu), Falak (played by Kirti Kulhari) and Andrea (played by Andrea Tariang) – who witness a life-altering event wherein an influential politician Rajvir (played by Angad Bedi) is seriously injured. The incident takes place at a resort in the Delhi suburb of Surajkund, and the egoistic Rajvir makes every effort to create havoc in the lives of these three women – one of whom had injured him.
After approaching a legal recourse, the accused maligns the womens’ complaints, by way of appropriating gender roles and turning to gender stereotyping, calling them sex workers. It is at this point of time that retired lawyer Deepak Sehgal (played by Amitabh Bachchan) comes forward to fight the womens’ case. Would the lawyer be able to take a stand for them or would he have to face defeat in the face of over-generalisations of perceived characteristics of womenfolk? Find answers to these questions by watching the ambitious flick.
Performances
As a courtroom drama on women’s safety and many a sub-theme within the gender identity aspect, PINK has outstanding performances by a group of talented actors. Starting off with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, well, he has done a brilliant job and can be seen in an extremely powerful role. Portraying the character of lawyer Deepak Sehgal, Bachchan has acted in the most kind and sensitive way. Even as an aged, lonely and indisposed lawyer, Bachchan has put in his best efforts towards making his character believable.
Talking about the other actors, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi (Rajvir), Piyush Mishra (as Rajvir’s lawyer) and Dhritiman Chatterjee (portraying the role of the Judge) has excelled in their respective roles, taking the flick to a whole new level.
Pink Music
‘Jeenay De Mujhe’, the opening track of Pink’s music album is a clear declaration of the message “Let people lead their lives on their own terms’. Sung by Faiza Mujahid, the rock sensation from Pakistan, the song is about freedom and choices in life from the perspective of a female.
Next is “Kaari Kaari”, which has been sung by the very talented Quart-ul-Ain Balouch and has contemplative lyrics. The song’s slow paced music will indeed be loved by all soft music lovers.
Then there is “Tujse Hi Hai Roshni”, which is a soothing number after the dark song “Kaari Kaari”. Sung by Anupam Roy of Piky fame, “Tujse Hi Hai Roshni” will undoubtedly leave a deep impact on music lovers.
The last track of the music album is a peppy Latino-pop number “Pink”. As an upbeat track, it is all about the girl power and has excellent vocals by Jonita Gandhi and rap interludes by rapper Epr Iyer.

What’s Good?
A powerful script accompanied by superb performances has put PINK into the category of ‘must-watch’ films. The brilliant dialogue delivery of Amitabh Bachchan in courtroom scenes will keep you engaged throughout the length of movie.
What’s Bad?
A lengthier second half is the only glitch in PINK and perhaps something that might bore the audiences.
Verdict
A must-watch film for girls and boys of all ages. The film will prove how stereotyping creates dangerous consequences, and how it is harmful when it limits the women’s and men’s capacity to develop their personal abilities. The film also questions the perceived notions of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ and gives a lot of food for thought to the young brigade of the dynamic nation. Don’t miss it!
