Location: Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Allenganj, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh

The Indian Freedom Struggle is that part of the history which, even today, touches the heart-chords of every Indian. Testimonies of the long drawn battle are held with utmost respect and are preserved with great care by the Government of India. One of the greatest avowals of the Freedom Struggle is the place which served as the centre of all the activities of the Congress, the Anand Bhawan.

A large two-storey structure in the city of Allahabad, Anand Bhawan is the ancestral home of the Nehru-Gandhi family. It is the same place where all the important events in the course of the freedom struggle were held. In the year 1970, Anand Bhawan was donated to the Indian Government by the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi.  The house was later converted into a museum which now showcases the exhibits of the renowned Nehru family.

The museum has special rooms dedicated to Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi, where all their belongings are preserved carefully. Apart from the bedrooms, there is a library and an outhouse which has been entirely dedicated to the life of Pandit Nehru. A light and sound show is specially held four times a day for the visitors. Anand Bhawan is the best place to know everything about India’s struggle for freedom, and therefore, one should definitely visit this place at least once in a life time!
