Built in the honour of an amazingly beautiful and courageous woman, Begum Hazrat Mahal, a marbled memorial stands upright in the Old Victoria Park in Lucknow. The construction of this memorial dates back to the year 1962. The state government, on 15th of August, built this monument to commemorate Begum Hazrat Mahal’s contribution in the Revolt of 1857. The monument was decorated with flower strings and illuminated with neon tubes and was inaugurated in a grand ceremony. A marble tablet with the Coat of Arms of the Royal family of Awadh was also placed in the premises.

Located in the heart of Lucknow, the Begum Hazrat Mahal Park was once a Rally ground used for Dusshera and other celebrations. Today, this park is one of the most spectacular gardens in the Hazratganj area. Eye-catching fountains, trees, flowers and stoned pathways highlight  the beauty of the park that gives a sigh of relief from the combustion of the city. The serenity of the place and the greenery around attracts a large number of visitors who come there and spend some quality time.
