Nariman Point is considered to be the end of the city from where one can see the land meeting the sea. Although there are many points like this in the city, but this place holds a special value in heart of the citizens as the famous marine drive is attached to it. Be it street photography lovers, tourists or the lovers, Marine drive serves a great relaxation point.

When I looked further down the south east of this point lies the Kolivada, the fishermen area and the Cuffe parade which is one of the premiere high rising accolades of the city. While looking at that I understood the meaning of “Sahab ye Mumbai hai… yaha koi kisi se chota nahi”— It says that one can not differentiate between the rich and the poor in Mumbai. Every section of society is equal.

Looking down further to the west, I saw the Manhattan of India… yes, I am talking about the Mumbai skyline. There it was, the high rise showing how the city is developing vertically. The best time to enjoy in this area is the night time where you can sit for prolonged periods while staring at the shimmering lights of the skyline.

One of the tall buildings dotting Mumbai’s skyline is the Taj Hotel.
After looking and sitting down at Nariman Point for almost one hour staring at the enormous sea, I decided to take a long walk on the Marine Drive also known as the necklace road and headed towards the Girgaum chowpatty beach. Why is it called as the necklace road?

The answer to this question was very simple as I could imagine how it will look like if I ever get a chance to look at it from top of some tall building. People say that it looks like a queen’s necklace in the night with its sparkling street lights acting as diamonds, and this extends from Nariman to Chowpatty.

Like any other destinations, it was also swarming with vendors selling chai, bhel, chana jor garam etc. I also saw many horse buggy riders in the vicinity, who will make your evening pleasurable by taking you on a small ride on the necklace road.

The rocks are heavy and huge and dot the entire stretch in a well arranged manner.

On my way to Chowpatty I saw many love birds sitting there on the elevated platform which stands against the highrise.

Holding a chana jor garam packet in my hand, I was looking at those tall buildings which share most of the financial district of the city. Many joggers and fitness enthusiasts jogged past by me, which clearly states that it’s a local favourite too. Although the walk took most of my day but it was a pleasurable evening which I spent alongwith the sea and the cool breeze patting my back.
