The air terminal which has a close proximity with Mysore Airport is located in Bangalore. The Bangalore Hindusthan airport provides air travel services to people going to Mysore. Indian Airlines, Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher are some of the major airways that operate from Bangalore airport.

There are many other airports near Mysore that facilitate frequent air travel services. The Coimbatore Peelamedu airport is one such terminal which is situated at a distance of around 92.9 miles away from Mysore. The Karnataka Government in the recent past has taken major initiatives to develop an airport in Mysore. The Mandakalli area of Mysore was even decided upon for the proposed air terminal base. The Airlines Authority of India has chalked out a full-fledged plan under which two runways will be built in the airport.

A Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed and it is expected that by the year 2009 the Mysore airport will be ready for full-fledged aviation operations. In the initial phase the airport of Mysore will allow flights having a potential of 70 passengers. Water and electricity requirement of the airport of Mysore will be met by the state government of Karnataka. Also the huge demand for unhindered power supply will be sufficiently satisfied.

Mysore with its Wi-Fi technology has come to the forefront of IT recently. The city of Mysore has been regarded as one of the first ever places of India to have experienced the wireless communication era. As such not only the IT professionals but also tourists are flocking to the city in large numbers.

The proposed Mysore airport is surely going to facilitate the fast and safe transportation of people to the city from all other locations.
