About Nainital

Nainital is a beautiful hill town situated in the Indian state of Uttaranchal.

Nainital is an attractive summer destination for north Indians and also from other parts of the country.

Nainital is situated at a height of 6,350 feet above sea-level, surrounded on three sides by the misty Himalayan mountains.

The three mountains surrounding Nainital are Naina (2615 meters) ,Deopatha (2438 meters) and Ayarpatha (2278 meters). Naina is the highest among the three.

Nainital has a temperate climate due to its mountainous location. Summers are cool; temperatures hover around 27 degrees centigrade.

Winter in Nainital is freezing cold; temperatures falling below zero (-3 degrees centigrade). Nainital gets its annual snowfall during the months from December up to February.

The main tourist attraction of Nainital are as follows:
  • Snow View: Snow View is located on the Sher-Ka-Danda ridge and is accessible by cable car. Snow View offers spectacular views of Nanda-Devi,Trisul and Nanda Kot mountains.

  • Naina Peak: From Naina Peak one can get panoramic views of Nainital city and its vicinity.

  • Naini Devi Temple: Naini Devi Temple is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake. The presiding deity of the temple is Maa Naini Devi.

  • Governor's House: Governor's House is also known as Raj Bhavan. Governor's House was constructed in 1899 and designed by the architect F.W Stevens. The building was designed in the Victorian Gothic style. Governor's House is a two storied mansion with 113 rooms,swimming pool and golf links.
