Manali - Valley of the Gods
Location of Manali
Manali is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh and lies 250 km north of the state capital of Shimla. Manali is believed to get its name from the Bhramin lawgiver Manu, and the word Manali literally means "The Abode of Manu". Sitting at a height of 1950 meters in the Beas River Valley, Manali is said to have a great cultural significance in India and is also known to be the home of "Saptarishi" (The Seven Sages).

Air: The closest airport to Manali is Bhuntar, located at a distance of 50 km from Manali. Kinkfisher Red Airlines operated daily non-stop services from Delhi to Bhuntar, Air India twice a week and MDLR Airlines six days a week.
Railways: The nearest narrow gauge railway head is at Joginder Nagar (135 km). From here it is possible to take buses or taxis onwards to Manali.
Road: Manali is very well connected by road and is connected to Delhi (550 km) by NH-21 and NH-1 which goes all the way to Leh, claimed to be the highest motorable road in the world.
