Shima - The Queen of Hill
Shimla, once the summer capital of India has gained importance as a tourist destination. This is the capital of Himachal Pradesh., and is popularly known as 'the Queen of Hills'. Shimla attracts tourists majorly due to its natural beauty, decor and architecture of the buildings, and apple orchards. The name 'Shimla' originates from Goddess Shyamala Devi (incarnation of Goddess Kali).

The location of Shimla is in the north-west of the Himalayan range at an altitude of 2,205 metres (7,234 feet). Chandigarh, the nearest big city is 115 kilometres (71.4 miles) away. The distance of Delhi from Shimla is 365 kilometres (226.8 miles).
