Holi is a religious Hindu festival celebrated between February to March each year- it is also known as the spring festival since it marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer. The festival is celebrated by people throwing scented, coloured powder and water on each other, including water balloons. Holi is celebrated with great vigor in areas connected to Lord Krishna, such as Mathura, Vrindavan and Barsana.

Location of Varanasi Varanasi, also known as Benaras and Kashi, is a city on the banks of the River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh.
Located 320 kms southeast of the state capital of Lucknow, Varanasi is regarded as a holy city by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists and is renowned around the world for being the oldest, continually inhabited city on the world. It is also the oldest city in India.

Rail
Varanasi has its own railway station, called the Varanasi Junction- which is one of the busiest and most revenue generating stations in the country. The station has trains connecting to cities like Delhi, Allahabad, Patna, Lucknow and Gaya among others.
Road
Varanasi is connected to the rest of the country by the Grand Trunk Road (G.T Road), also known as National Highway 2. The road connects Varanasi to cities like Agra, Delhi, Kolkata and Kanpur among others.
Air
Varanasi has its own airport known as the Lal Bhadur Shastri International Airport and is located at a distance of 21 kms from the Varanasi Junction railway station. The airport is connected to the rest of the country and the world by carriers like Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo Airlines, Spicejet, Thai Airways and Korean Air. Cariers like Naaz Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines operate Haj flights to Medinah from here as well.
