Good Shepherd International School started with the endeavor of Dr.P.C. Thomas who initiated a school in the region to foster the intellectual, spiritual and the physical capital of the students. The school aims to enlighten the students academically and to provide them with a holistic development that aids them in future to accept the challenges of life.

The Good Shepherd International School in Ooty is a coeducational residential school that occupies an area of 160 acres. The primary section and the junior school occupies a sprawling area of 20 acres in the region of Fernhill that is situated at a distance of 3 kilometers from the town of Ooty. The senior school is housed in the M. Palada campus that is situated at a distance of 5 kilometers from Fernhill. The senior school spreads over an area of 70 acres. Apart from the two academic sections, the school has the Shepherd's Farm that provides the school with the various dairy and poultry products. The laundry is also done in this region. The farm occupies an area of 60 acres and is situated at Gudalur. The Good Shepherd Gardens is situated at a distance of 1 kilometer from the senior school campus. It spreads across 15 acres and house the residential staff.

The infrastructure of the Good Shepherd International School at Ooty has been developed to cater to the needs of the students. The students reside in the dormitory supervised by the wardens and the house nurses. The school also has a swimming pool, refectory, athletic stadium and game courts.
