Reaching Ooty

One of the best ways of reaching Ooty is to take a road journey from Coimbatore. The hill station is also connected to various other important cities of South India by a good network of roads. One can also chose to reach Ooty by train.

The hill station of Ooty has a rail station of its own. The railway station is located at an approximate distance of about 2 kilometers from the city center. It is connected to the town of Mettupalayam by a narrow gauge train. Which is further connected to different other cities in India through Chennai and Coimbatore. The distance of Ooty from Mettupalayam is about 45 kilometers.

The nearest airport to Ooty is located in Coimbatore. Its distance from the hill resort is about 88 kilometers. This airport is connected to Bangalore, Chennei, Mumbai and Cochin by Indian Airlines flights. In order to reach Ooty by air one needs to get down and this airport and take a road journey from there.

You can also avail the toy train to reach Ooty. This train connects this hill station to Mettupalayam and Coonoor. Though it is not a very fast way but the scenic beauty of this route attracts many tourists to avail it.

Ooty is also connected to all the nearby towns and cities by good roads. So one can also opt for a road journey from other important cities of South India. The road to Ooty from Coimabatore is popular for its scenic beauty.
