Mukteshwar Utsav, Orissa

The Mukteshwar Utsav, Orissa is one of the most well known festivals that are celebrated in the state. This festival is named after one of the most renowned temples of Orissa called the Mukteshwar Temple.

This temple is a very important part of the cultural life of the people of Orissa as the arch at the temple entrance is considered to be one of the most beautiful specimens of the Orissan school of architecture. This temple is signifies the transitional phase of the architecture of Orissa between the initial and the later stages of Kalinga architectural style. The beautiful architectural work of the temple add to the splendor of the Mukteshwar Utsav.

The extended lawns that stretch in between the premises of the Mukteswar Temple and the Parsurameswar Temple house the Mukteshwar Utsav in Orissa.

The Mukteshwar Utsav at Orissa is mainly a dance festival, in which many talented Odissi dancers perform. This festival should not be missed by the people who take interest in the traditional dance forms of India.

This festival is actually the final part of the Ekamra Utsav. The Ekamra Utsav is very popular among the people of the state who believe in the religion of Hinduism.

The Mukteshwar Utsav of Orissa generally spans for four days at a stretch. In the year 2007, the festival has been organized from the 14th to the 17th of the month of January in 2007. In the year 2006, it was celebrated from the 12th to the 15th of the month of January.
