Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the reserved Orissa wildlife sanctuaries. The rich forested area of the region is home to a number of animals and birds. The sanctuary is situated by the Hirakud reservoir.

The wildlife sanctuary at Debrigarh is rich in the growth of plants and trees. The region is covered with dry deciduous and mixed forests. The thick interiors of the sanctuary is home to a number of wild animals like the leopard, sloth bear and the tiger. Herbivores like the spotted deer, gaur and sambar. The sanctuary is also home to a number of reptiles like the chameleon and the monitor lizards. It is the ideal habitat of the Chousingha. The forests of the wildlife sanctuary of Debrigarh is visited by several migratory birds who travel great distances in the winter season to make this forest their home.

The entrance of the wildlife sanctuary in Debrigarh is situated at Dhodrokusum by the Hirakud reservoir. The sanctuary is situated at a distance of 60 kilometers from the region of Baragarh and 40 kilometers from Sambalpur.
