Panaji Population

Panaji population stood at 59,066 according to the census of the year 2001. The population of Panaji city is spread across an area of 8.12 square kilometers. The density of population in Panaji according to the census was 7212 persons per kilometer.

Along with the inhabitants, the city is populated with the international and the national tourists who frequently visit the city of Panaji. With promotion of tourism in the city, the floating population of Panaji has increased in the past few years. The influx of foreign and Indian tourists in Panaji has increased.

According to the 2001 census report, the gender ratio in Panaji is 975 females per thousand males. 9.80 percent of the population aged between 0 to 6 years. The city has achieved 80.01 percent of literacy. The literacy rate of the city is marginally lower than the state and district literacy figures which stood at 84.12 percent.
