Kalahandi is a district in the state of Orissa, India. Also known Karunda Mandal, Kalahandi is situated in the southwestern part of the state. The Balangir district is situated to the north of Kalhandi and Rayagda is located in the south.
The Kalahandi Parliamentary Constituency has been a strong seat of the BJP as well as INC. The district had a population of around 1335494 (2001). The male population was approximately 667526 and the female population was approximately 667968.
The Budharaja Temple, Lankeshwari Temple and Thuamul Rampur feature as the top tourist attractions of the place amongst others. The Kalahandi Parliamentary Constituency is particularly known for its Ghumar dance, Parja Dance, Badikhel Dance, Singlia Dance and Ushkuusha Dance forms.
