Soya Dosa

Dosa is no doubt one of the most popular cuisines in the whole of South India and Pondicherry is obviously not an exception to that. The most widespread and most admired food in the union terri-tory of Pondicherry comes in large variety. One fabulous variety among the many kinds of Dosa, the Soya Dosa is a very tasty one.

The following ingredients are needed in order to prepare Soya Dosa or Soy Dosa:

  • Soy flour
  • Urad dal flour
  • Semolina
  • Rice flour
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

    The soy flour, rice flour, semolina and urad dal flour are to be mixed together. Water is added to the mixture of powder to obtain a paste. Salt should be added to this and the paste is to be battered until it becomes a thin and fine batter. After keeping the batter for some time it is transferred to a non-stick frying pan and is heated. A thin layer of the flour batter is spread on the pan and is lightly fried. The nutritious and tasty soy dosa is ready to eat.

    If one wishes to add stuffing inside, this can be easily done by making a stuffing of potato. Soy Dosa tastes the best when served with the famous green chutney made of:
    • Coriander leaves
    • Mint
    • chillies
    • Salt
    That Soy or Soya Bean is extremely nutritious is a known fact to all. It is rich in protein and vita-min B12. Soya Bean is very helpful for maintaining the sugar level in human body. The dosa made of soya is a food item that is very tasty and healthy, both at the same time.
