Current Government in Pondicherry



Democratic Progressive Alliance has formed the Current Government in Pondicherry. In the assembly elections of 2006 , which held in the month of May, DPA or Democratic Progressive Alliance won 20 seats out of the total 30 assembly seats of Pondicherry.

Being a Congress-led party, Democratic Progressive Alliance has represented its candidature in the assembly elections of 2006 in Pondicherry. After the results have been published, Congress decided to present N Rangasamy as the leader of the Legislature party. On 18th May, 2006, N Rangasamy had been elected as the honorable Chief Minister of Pondicherry.

Apart from Democratic Progressive Alliance, candidates of many other major political parties contested the Pondicherry assembly elections of 2006. While AIADMK achieved a total of seven assembly seats, other parties won only three seats.

Among the other political parties that contested the assembly elections of 2006 in Pondicherry the names of BSP, BJP, RJD, LJP, AIFB, IND, DMDK, RSP, RPI, BVVP, CPI (ML) (L), TMC (M), PB, RPI (A), LJNSP and JD (U) are worth mentioning.

Current Government in Pondicherry is consistently performing on a high level with the aim of making this Union Territory one of the most progressive ones in India in every respect.
