Early life of Shivraj Patil



With his origin in the Lingayat community, Shivraj Patil got married to Vijaya Patil in the month of June, 1963. Apart from the award of Anuvarta by the Tulsi Foundation in the year 1997, Mr. Patil was honored with the Doctorate Degree by the Marathwada Agricultural University in 1998. Mr. Shivraj Patil is very fond of sports like Horse-riding, Shooting and Swimming. Patil loves to spend his free time reading and indulging himself in recreational activities. He is even a travel lover. Apart from national ones, that made him visit numerous international destinations as well. Political career of present Governor of Punjab



The political career of Shivraj Patil started with his involvement in the Latur Municipality, the then local government of him in the period of 1967 to 1969. Mr. Shivraj Patil was elected as the President of the Latur Municipal Corporation during 1967 to 1972. In between that time from 1970 to 1972, he even used to teach Law in instituions of Latur as well as Aurangabad. Mr. Shivraj Patil was the first person to introduce the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in India in the year 1995. Shivraj Patil even took initiative in constructing the library building of the Parliament House and broadcasted proceedings of Lok Sabha, which included live broadcasting of Parliament's Question Hour.
