Punjab Cooperative organizations are engaged in every aspect of production, processing and marketing of agricultural products. These Cooperative organizations provide credit to needy farmers, purchase crops from them. They also process and sell agricultural products and offer services to every village in Punjab.
Punjab cooperatives are formed by autonomous association of people. They come together voluntarily to fulfill their common economic, social, and cultural requirements. The organization is a collectively-owned and democratically-managed enterprise. In simple words we can say that it is a business owned by the people of Punjab who use its services.

Punjab State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation Ltd. (Markfed) is Asia’s Largest Marketing Cooperative. At present, 22 full-fledged units are operating under it and has a turnover of US $1,090 million. Agricultural products are exported to USA, UK, France and Middle East.
Punjab State Federation Of Co-Operative Sugar Mills Ltd.(SUGARFED) was founded in 1966 to promote Sugar Mills of Punjab.
