The Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jalandhar is organized every year in the memory Swami Harballabh. It is held near the Samadhi of Saint Harballabh, from the 27th to 30th of December. During this time reputed musicians from all over India gather in Jalandhar to celebrate Indian Classical Music.
Swami Harballabh, a sant musician, is believed to have come from a very rich family of a the Bajwara village of Hoshairpur District. This disciple of Swami Tulja Gir was a great composer of classical music. Swami Tulja Gir was the person who initiated him into the world of music. Among his compositions the 'Dhrupads' are the most celebrated and popular.
Swami Harballah attracted a large number of followers.The Harballah Sangeet Sammalan of Jalandhar was also started by his disciples. Pandit Tolo Ram, a brahmin of Jalandhar,was one of his most famous disciples. On the death of Swami Harballabh he put himself in the service of this institution. The Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jalandhar is also a result of his efforts. He devoted himself totally to collect fund for this 'Sangeet Mela' and traveled extensively to make his dream of celebrating the greatness of his teacher come true. This effort of his made the place an important site of pilgrimage for all the classical singers of India.
People from different corners of India come here to enjoy Indian Classical Music every year. Admission to the Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan is free of cost. Free boarding and food are also arranged by the organizers.
