Covering a versatile spectrum of beliefs and faiths, the Religion of Punjab mainly consists of followers of Sikhism, Hinduism and Islam. Known as the thriving ground of many ancient Religions like Buddhism, Jainism and Christianity, Punjab today comprises of majority of Sikh people. However, the co-existence of other Religious sects itself proves the liberal atmosphere of the state.

Devoted to the ten Gurus, the Sikh Religion of Punjab primarily focus on the omnipresence of an ultimate God who is invisible yet present in every form of life. Guru Nanak, who spread the message of love and peace through his scriptures between1469 to 1539, is considered the revered leader of Sikhism. Guru Gobind Singh is another respected figure of Sikh Religion who dominates the Religious beliefs of the people of Punjab.

The Gurudwaras are the commonly found places of worship where followers of Sikhism gather to listen to the sacred messages of Guru Granth Sahib. Since this veteran Religion of Sikhs is devoid of any kind of visible ritual practices, hence, the people are required to meditate and praise the Almighty by reciting kirtaans. Indicating the altruistic nature of human beings, the Gurudwaras of Punjab houses a langar where cooked items are served to all for free of cost.

Followers of Hinduism are also found in Punjab. Dedicated to various gods and goddesses, the Religion demands special worship ceremonies for each and every deity. Originated way back in the 1500s, today Hinduism is not only a widely followed Religion in Punjab but also has extended beyond the national counters.

Before the division of Punjab, large number of Muslim communities used to inhabit the state. The main doctrine being the selfless devotion to a single Almighty, the Religion Islam emphasizes on purity of heart, peace among the brethrens and acceptance of all adversities with courage.

Symbolizing the eternal essence of commitment, dedication and trust, the Religion of Punjab binds the people of the state in on enticing string of hope and bliss.
