Rauza Sharif, Sirhind

Located at a short distance of 50 kilometers from Patiala, the "Rauza Sharif, Sirhind" served as a famous and an auspicious burial ground for the royal Muslim families. The ancient place attracts many tourist who visit the place to pay their obeisance to those royal blue bloods who has left for the heavenly abode. The splendid monument is an architectural marvel of the ancient times which portrays the creative skills and artistic zeal of the people of the by gone golden era.

The "Rauza Sharif" houses the graves of many famous personalities of the ancient times. The marvelous monument marks the burial place of Mujadid-alf- Saani Sheikh Ahmed Farooqi, Kabuli, Sirhind who played an important role during the imperial rule of the great Mughal rulers, Akbar and Jahangir.

The surrounding of the "Mausoleum" wears a dilapidated and deserted look. The ancient burial place also houses the grave of the great ruler of Afghanistan, Shah Zaman which is thronged by many Muslim devotees. The burial place is surrounded by beautiful and sprawling gardens which imparts a heavenly look to the place. The "Rauza Sharif" wears a colorful look during the "Urs" festival which is held in the month of August. The "Urs" festival attracts many religious leaders from far and near the place. The fair is a special attraction for the local people that relieves them from the tensions and stresses of daily life.
