Puri Climate

Being situated on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, the Puri climate is a typical example of tropical climate. Since, this town is located quite close to the sea; it has influenced the climate of Puri quite significantly. The sea winds that blow principally during the early hours of the evening are extremely soothing and pleasurable. For this reason, sick people are quite frequently asked by their doctors to visit Puri and spend some time.

The temperatures during the months of the summer season reach a maximum mark of 36 degree centigrade. The winter temperatures also do not fall below the 16-degree centigrade. Thus, the weather of Puri remains quite pleasant virtually throughout the year. But during the winter season in Puri, the residents have to put on woolen clothes at least during the night hours. Most of the tourists travel to this town in Orissa, during the winter season. November, December and January are considered to be the coldest months.

The monsoon season at Puri extends from the months of June to the month of September. The humidity in the air of Puri drastically increases during the rainy season. The sea at Puri also becomes very turbulent during this time of the year. Thus, it is not safe to go near the sea during this time. But, from the month of October, the Puri climate again becomes quite pleasant.

The beach town of Puri receives an average rainfall of 200 centimeters annually. This town in Orissa also receives about 5 centimeters of rainfall in the winter season.
