Ranchi Police

Ranchi Police basically handles the law and order situation at the capital city in the state of Jharkhand in the Indian subcontinent. The main motto of the Ranchi Police is to 'watch' and 'ward', that is, to bring the evil doers to justice. The Ranchi Police is an independent unit in the Jharkhand State Administration. The police force in Ranchi was initially introduced by the British rulers in the year 1861 under the Police Act. According to the Police Act, there is a need of a common pattern of the police organization, which should be properly trained and it should also be a disciplined body of men who will be exclusively dedicated towards the detection as well as the prevention of crime.

The Ranchi Police Force is headed by the Inspector General who is also the head of the provincial police administration. These provinces at Ranchi are further distributed into districts. The Superintendent of the Police Force of Ranchi takes care of the police administration, which remains under the control of the Magistrates.

According to the Police Force at Ranchi, it is mandatory for a foreigner having either a student, research, employment or a missionary visa, to register within fourteen days of arrival at the local police station in case the Foreigners Regional Registration Office is not available at that place.
