Goa Power Station is one of the major Reliance Energy Associated Companies. It came into being as a response to the invitation of bids made by Goa government in January 1996 in order to establish power stations in this state. This automated power station is located at Zuarinagar, Goa.
Equipments used by Goa Power Station:
The well equipped power plant includes Steam Turbine as well as Gas Turbine. Reliance puts emphasis on the quality of their equipments. Therefore all the equipments are bought from renowned companies like Foxboro and BHEL. All the equipments are stamped with Mark V that ensures their quality and safety. The components are changed whenever needed to maintain the uninterrupted flow of electricity. This well maintained Power Station not only generates power. It has turned into a distribution and utility enterprise after being successfully operating in Goa for 7 years.Major Clients of Goa Power Station:
Electricity generated form this power plant is mainly being offered to the Goa government but REL also supplies energy to private industries like Meta Strips Limited and Mormugao Port Trust using its underground distribution system. At present 60% of the total electricity produced is consumed by the industries. The Indian as well as international companies that are benefited by this underground network system includes Coca Cola, Birla Optics, Universal Cables, Hindustan Liver, Betts India etc.Distribution System:
Verna, Madkaim, Corlim, Murmogoa Port, Kundaim Industrial Area have been selected by REL to grow its underground distribution network system. The main network system is equipped with 33 KV loops circuit line which is capable of serving any isolated division of the network from two directions. 1 x 6.3 MVA transformers are installed in Verna and Kundaim which is estimated to fulfill 11 KV consumers load.Goa Power Station Customer Care:
Goa Power Station is one of the major providers of power quality solution. REL has so many consumers because of its quality service, highly developed distribution network system and minimum unplanned outage. GPS also offers rebates to its consumers depending on the pattern of load utilization. It conducts regular inspection so that the problems can be identified and solved at once.Priorities of GPS:
Goa Power Station has been modernizing and improving the distribution network system by collecting data and implementing GIS for the power plant. Beside that GPS focuses on safety measures in the plant. All kinds of necessary steps are being taken to maintain safety in the plant. It has implemented many eco-friendly production systems. It has also received the ISO 14001 certificate for the role it played in environment management.Social Responsibilities:
GPS has performed many social responsibilities like offering uniforms, books, shoes to needy students, spreading awareness against Malaria and Dengue, encouraging students, teachers and citizens to visit the plant to gain environmental awareness etc.Goa Power Station has been selected as the most preferred power supplier in Goa for consistently maintaining high PLF and also for its unparalleled contribution in the field of electricity generation.
