One of the important power projects that was taken up by Reliance Power was Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Dubai, U.A.E. In 2000. Project completed in 2000. Included installation of GIS Substations, communication stations, cable lines and transmission line. Played a key role in the development of Dubai power sector.

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Dubai, U.A.E. In 2000 was one of the major clients of Reliance Power. A section under the Reliance Group, Reliance Power Limited (REL) was formed to take up construction and operation of power projects inside and outside India.

Reliance Group plays a crucial role in India's power sector. Besides, it has also planned and implemented a number of projects in countries in Middle East. The contracts for power projects are taken up by EPC or Engineering, Procurement and Construction division of Reliance Power.

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) in UAE functions under the government of Dubai. The division is in charge of power supply and distribution in the country. DEWA became a client of Reliance Power as it wanted REL to install GIS substations. Reliance completed the power project in Dubai, U.A.E in the year 2000. The project included the installation of substations, cable lines and transmission lines. The project featured the following:

  • Installation of 132 KV GIS Substations
  • Establishment of 132 KV Cabling
  • Establishment of 132 KV Transmission line
  • SCADA Communication at Jebel Ali Ind. & Emirates Substations The GIS substations were required for creating maps which would help DEWA in its plans for obtaining local information. The other three, cable lines, transmission lines and substations for communication, were established by Reliance Power in order to enable better communication and transmission.

    Dubai is a rapidly expanding country and the project undertaken by Reliance Power helped to enhance the power sector of the country.
