3500 MW Power Plant, Dadri in UP


The 3500 MW Power Plant, Dadri in UP was set up in 2004 in the Ghaziabad District. The most interesting feature of this power generation plant was that it aimed to be the biggest gas based power plant.

3500 MW Power Plant, Dadri in UP- Foundation and Location

The establishment of the 3500 MW Power Plant, Dadri in UP was laid in the Ghaziabad District of Uttar Pradesh. The cornerstone for the plant was set up by the then Chief Minster of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav. The project aimed at the foundation of the biggest gas based power plant with a capacity of 3500 MW.

The choice of Dadri in Uttar Pradesh as the location of this project was because of its proximity to Delhi and the availability of proper infrastructure. Work for the project is in full swing as it is to be completed in short phases. The first phase of construction was to undergo completion within three years of its foundation.

3500 MW Power Plant, Dadri in UP -An Eco-Friendly Project

The plant occupies a total area of 2500 acres and is situated at a distance of about 40 kilometers from the national capital. The singularity of the project lay in the fact that it aimed to generate power by making use of eco-friendly resources. The power necessary natural gas required for power generation was to be obtained from Dhirubhai Gas fields located within the KG basin. The plant was set up with the target of generating power supply to meet the needs of approximately 70 million users in North India.

The 3500 MW Power Plant in Ghaziabad District involves a total cost of about Rs 10,000 and above. The use of modern technology and latest technical knowhow are the ways in which this mega project has been enabled to create power in ways and by means which do not cause any harm to the surrounding environment.
