Rosa Power Supply Company Limited


Rosa Power Supply Company Limited was initially a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Power Company Limited. Today, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reliance Power.

About the Power Company

From being a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Power Company Limited, Rosa Power Supply Company Limited became a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power in the year 2006. An agreement relating to the share purchase was made by both the Reliance Power and Aditya Birla Power Company on November 1, 2006. As a Result of such an Agreement, the Rosa Power Supply Company Limited is presently operating as a subsidiary of the Reliance Power. The Company was formed way back in September 1994.

Proposed Power Projects

Rosa Power Supply Company Limited of Reliance Power is currently involved in a 600 MW coal-based power project. The site of the project is at the Rosa village of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Comprising two basic phases, the coal-fired power project of Rosa Power Supply Company Limited is expected to be completed by March 2010.

The 2x300 MW Phase I of the power project of the Rosa Power Supply Company Limited has already initiated its operations. The entire phase I of the project is going to utilize the high end PCC technology. Involving an estimated cost of Rs. 2702 crore, the project is expected to generate power by December 2009.

Phase II of the project of Rosa Power Supply Company Limited, with a total expenditure of Rs. 2460 crore, will be an expanded form of the phase I project. As a 600 MW power project, Phase II of the Rosa Power Supply Company Limited is expected to generate a combined capacity of 1200 MW.

The basic condition which is involved in the initiation of the 2nd phase of the project is that the Phase I will be completed as per the specified time limit. This time limit has been decided upon by the UPERC. After the completion of Phase II of the project if any further phases are to be implemented by the Rosa Power Supply Company Limited then the same has to be approved by the UPERC. Phase II of the project is expected to be fully completed by September 2010.

Once both the phases of the project get completed, the combined electricity generation by Rosa Power Supply Company Limited is sure to enhance the prospects of power industry in India.
