Narkanda


Hindustan Tibet road passes through Narkanda of Himachal Pradesh. The Narkanda slopes are an ideal destination for skiing sport.

The entire place is encircled by wealth of thick pine woods and extensive deodar trees. The wonderful hilly track is located at an altitude of 2708 meters above sea level.

Narkanda unfolds a splendid sight of the snow capped mountain peaks. A trekking expedition of 8 kilometers leads you to the beautiful Hattu Peak where the religious temple of Hattu Mata stands upright.

Hattu peak is the only available peak at Narkanda that is perfect for skiing. The season for skiing begins at December end and continues till March.

Narkanda of Shimla is located on the ridge that is the watershed of the river Sutlej and Giri. This makes the place all the more beautiful. The region is the abode to enormous groves of hilly cherries and apple trees. The place is loved by the hikers and skiers. Narkanda is infact a passage between Shimla and Rampur.

The tourists are heavily attracted to the spot because of cheap accommodation facilities available at the hotels at Narkanda. The place is very much loved by the holidaymakers for the scenic beauty of the place.

Narkanda can be easily reached by buses available from Shimla. It takes approximately two hours to reach there. One can board in the Himachal Tourism Corporation hotel or the PWD Rest House. Narkanda is the epitome of Himalayan beauty.
