Sikkim Colleges and Institutes

Among all other North-Eastern states of India, Sikkim has the best educational infrastructure. In last few years, there has been a phenomenal growth of education in Sikkim. The state has quite a few pre-primary schools and CBSC affiliated Senior Secondary Schools. Unsurprisingly, Sikkim has won the title of 'Best performing small state in Education' in 2004 and 2005 and also the 'Skoch challenger award for best use of Information Technology'. Higher education in Sikkim has been smoothened by the rapid growth of various colleges and institutions in Sikkim. Some of the important Sikkim colleges and Institutions are:

Sikkim Government Law College: Established in 1977, this college offers honours courses in English, Nepali, Political Science, Accountancy, History, Geography, Zoology and Botany and also Law course

Namchi Degree College: Here honours courses in English, Economics, Education and Nepali are taught along with pass courses in English, Geography, Nepali, Sociology, Economics, Political Science and Education.

Damber Singh Degree College: Set up in 1944, this college teaches only pass courses in English, Political Science, Sociology and Education.

Loyala College of Education: This college is specifically for B.Ed. Course.

Apart from these colleges in Sikkim, Sikkim colleges and institutions also include Government College at Rhenock, Harkamaya College of Education at Deorali, Pakim Paletine College at Pakyong, Himalayan Pharmacy Institute at Mazitar. There are management Institutes in Sikkim like Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Polytechnic institutes like Advanced Technical Training Center, research center like the National Research Center for Orchids.
