Current government of Sikkim

Current government of Sikkim was formed following the results of the 2004 assembly elections. The general verdict of the people went clearly in favor of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), who won all the seats in the state but one, which was bagged by the Indian National Congress (INC). Sikkim has a unicameral legislative body and an executive council headed by the chief minister. Along with a group of highly efficient secretaries and bureaucrats, Sikkim current government is whole heartedly devoted towards an all round development of this state.

Legislative Assembly of the Current Sikkim Government

The legislative assembly of the current government of Sikkim is a unicameral body. It has a total of 32 members elected from the 32 assembly seats spread across the four districts of the state. SDF emerged as the most successful party, winning 31 of the seats. Sri Pawan Chamling, the chief minister of the state is the current leader of the house. The proceedings of the house are governed by Sri Dawa Norbu, the speaker of the state. The highest legislative figure in the current government in Sikkim is Sri V. Rama Rao, the governor of the state. The legislative council lasts for five years, unless dissolved before that for some significant reason.

Executive Council of the Current Government in Sikkim

The executive council of Sikkim is an important part of the current government of Sikkim. The chief minister of the state, Sri Pawan Chamling is at the helm of the executive affairs of the state. He is also in charge of many important departments including Home, Finance, Planning and Economic Reforms. He is helped in carrying out the executive functions of the state by 11 other cabinet ministers of the current government at Sikkim, together forming the council of ministers. The ministers are helped by an able group of administrators and bureaucrats in carrying out the executive affairs of the state. Sri KT Chankapa is the Chief Secretary of Sikkim and plays a very important role in the proper working of the current government in Sikkim.
