There is only one parliamentary constituency in Sikkim. The winner from the elections held at the sole Sikkim parliamentary constituency goes on to represent the state at the Lok House, the Lower House of the bicameral Indian legislative structure. The political parties fiercely compete in Sikkim parliamentary constituency.

Sikkim parliamentary constituency is a general seat. The constituency code is one, being the only parliamentary constituency of Sikkim. According to the statistics provided by the Chief Electoral Office at Gangtok, the total number of voters in the constituency is 281937, with 145738 male and 136199 female voters.

Result of the 2004 Elections of Sikkim Parliamentary Constituency

The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has been a consistent winner in the Sikkim Parliamentary constituency, right from the 1996 parliamentary election. Bhim Prakash Dayal of SDF has won from the only parliamentary constituency at Sikkim for three times consecutively, from 1996 to 1999.

The 2004 Lok Sabha elections were contested by as many as nine political parties. The parties who were involved in the parliamentary elections of 2004 are:

The present winner is Sri Nakul Das Rai, again from SDF, who won the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, defeating his nearest competitor Sri Biraj Adhikari of Indian National Congress by a wide margin of nearly 40 percent votes.
