Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF)

Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) is the single largest state level party in Sikkim. It has met a success in the assembly elections of 2004, that is almost unbelievable for a state level party in India, where the national parties dominate the political scenario by and large and the state level parties are left to play only fringe coalition roles. SDF is a bright exception to the general trend. The party has its headquarters in Umbrella Upper Deorali in Gangtok of East Sikkim. Sri Pawan Kumar Chamling, the reigning chief minister of the state is at helm of the party. SDF met with resounding success in the 2004 assembly elections, winning as many as 31 out of 32 seats and going up to form the government.
