After a long wait, the city of Surat has finally got its own airport. The newly built Surat Airport is all ready to function fully and serve the city with numerous Flights to Surat. The Surat Airport has a 30 meters wide runway with a length of 14000 meters. It has also a 23X200 meters taxi way.
The Surat Airport started functioning in May, 2007 with the first flight to Delhi. Surat became the fourth city of the state of Gujarat to have domestic air connections. The other three are Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Jamnagar. However Surat has only one flight flying in daily basis. Indian Airlines is the only airlines to operate. Apart from the Surat Airport, the closest airport from the city is the Chatrapati Shivaji Airport of Bombay. Numerous domestic and international flights lands in this airport from where Surat is not very far away.
The Varanasi airport is very well equipped with well maintained terminals and car parking area. Some of the flights from Varanasi are very cheap thus catering to almost all economic classes of the society.
