With the view to create equal opportunities for the citizens of all social and economic groups, the Tamil Nadu Housing Board aims at providing quality houses and infrastructure to the people of Tamil Nadu from all income groups. The program incorporates standard housing facilities for the people from the economically weaker section to the higher income groups.
The Tamil Nadu Housing Board provides housing schemes in five different sections. They are the Economically Weaker Section, the Low Income Group, the Middle Income Group, the High Income Group and the Government servants. The housing scheme for the Economically Weaker Section includes those whose annual household income is up to Rs. 25,200. Those with the household annual income between Rs. 25,201 to Rs. 54,000 fall under the housing scheme of the Lower Income Group. The houses are available with an initial payment of 30% of the house cost during booking and monthly installment for the next 15 years at 13% interest rate. The Middle Income Group with an annual income of Rs. 54,000 to Rs.90,000 can avail the houses with the initial payment of 35% of the cost of the house and monthly installment for 10 years at the interest rate of 15.5% . The Higher Income Groups pay 40% of the house coat initially and installments for 10 years at 16% interest.
