Tamil Nadu has many industries that strengthen the economic structure of the state. Tamil Nadu is one of the leading industrial state of India. The state of Tamil Nadu earns lots of revenue from the industrial products. With its skilled and highly educated man power, and an excellent infrastructural support, the state of Tamil Nadu is the fifth largest economy of India.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken several steps in the recent years to boast up the industrial development in the state. Apart from large scale industrial units, the state has many medium and small units that form the backbone of the economy of the state.

Tamil Nadu is famous for the Automobile Industries, so much so that Chennai is fondly called the “Auto Capital” of India. The state also houses many Manufacturing, Electrical and heavy Engineering industries. Tamil Nadu also has many power generating plants in various parts of the state which supplies electricity to the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh as well.

The state of Tamil Nadu is famous for its “Textiles” Industry. The industry is known to produce fine and delicate silk and synthetic fibers. The famous “Kanchipuram” silk or the “South Indian” silk has a wide market within and outside India. The beautiful color combinations with the attractive designs makes the “Kanchipuram” saris a favorite among the women.

Tamil Nadu has a very well organized and technically proficient “Film Industry” which has a good market. The industry is known to have produced many actors, directors and musicians who enjoy world fame.

Tamil Nadu has a great potential for further industrial developments that will help the state to reach the zenith of success and glory.
