Tamilnadu Chief Minister

The respected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is Dr. M. Karunanidhi. A dedicated politician and leader, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Dr. M Karunanidhi has been the president of the D.M.K political party and been elected as the Chief Minister on several occasions.

As a politician, his public life started at the age of 14. The student section of Tamil Nadu Tamil Manavar Mandram was started by him. He is also one of the founding members of the D.M.K party which started in the year 1949. Initially elected as the treasurer of the party in 1961, he remained as the chosen president of the party since 1969. He is the undisputed winner of all assembly elections contested by him since 1957. He acted as the representative of the State Assembly and as a member of the Legislative Assembly Council. As the president of the party, Dr. M Karunanidhi has been the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1969-71, 1971-76, 1989-91 and 1996-2001. He has been the Minister for Public Works from 1967-69. His agitations and protests as a politician has caused him to remain in captivity of the police several times.

Other than the political activities, Dr. M. Karunanidhi is noted as a playwright, editor and publisher of various plays and journals. There are more than hundred books in prose and poetry written and published by him. His innumerable plays have been staged and screened many times. He was also the editor of Kudiyarasu.

The Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Dr. M Karunanidhi is one of the most active and devoted politicians of the state. He is honored by all and affectionately called the 'Kalaignar' in Tamil Nadu.
