Vadakkumnathan Temple


The Vadakkumnathan Temple is a magnificent temple, in the city of Thrissur in Kerala. This Temple is considered to be one of the most ancient temples of Kerala's. The wonderful architecture of the temple is worth seeing. It is a brilliant example of the Kerala style of architecture. The presiding deity of the Temple is Lord Shiva, which is decorated with golden ornaments and bright colored clothes.

The 'Pooram' festival is celebrated in the month of April or May. The festival is celebrated with lot of pomp and gaiety. The majestic elephant pageantry is a stunning sight where the elephants of the procession are beautifully decorated. It is accompanied by the playing of different musical instruments like drums and cymbals. The fireworks extravaganza is another attraction of the festival.
